Screwfix - how
I hate going into my local DIY shed to pick up some fancy packet of
screws or plumbing fittings I need immediately, knowing full well
I can order from Screwfix and get five times the quantity for the
same price just a day or so later. Service is always 1st class and
very quick.
Ezee-fix - specialists in domestic appliance
spares over the intenet. Good spares range and good personal service
to go with it.
UK DIY newsgroup - not a product or supplier
of course, but a very well supported newsgroup for all your DIY

Canon
EOS 350D camera - I've been a Canon SLR user for over 25 years. Their
350D digital camera is an absolute gem.
Maplin Electronics -
I've been a Maplin customer for over 20 years now. Very good mail
order service + regional shops. Would have got a 5 had it not been
for a couple of niggling errors in my two most recent orders.
COMPUTER
STUFF
ChoiceMail One from Digiportal Software - rarely has any
software product impressed me as much as this one. Read my review
of
whitelist and
Choicemail on these pages.
Window Washer from
Webroot - great utility for cleaning up the mess Internet Explorer
leaves behind. Includes a file shredder to make sure files you delete
can't be recovered. Also allows you to create a disk to securely wipe
your entire hard disk before selling your PC on.
Cryptainer
PE - from Cypherics. This is another must-have security product for
your PC. It allows you to create an encrypted "vault" on your PC to
store any sensitive files. There is a FREE version called LE
but the vault size is limited to something like 20M which might be
OK for protecting just a few files like your household finances
etc. I use PE which permits multiple vaults, each
up to 25G in size. It makes encrypting your files so easy,
it will become second nature.
Auction Sentry - another
must-have tool for all you Ebay-ers! It's a great "sniping" tool -
i.e. bidding automatically in the last few seconds of the auction.
Paid for itself within a week of me buying it.
Y!TunnelPro -
if you chat on Yahoo Messenger, a good utility to get rid of the rubbish.
Kaspersky Internet Security - excellent integrated product,
easy to install (and unlike Norton, easy to uninstall too!). Doesn't
seem to eat system resources like some others do.
